Thamel Tourism Development Council distributes relief materials to flood victims in Rasuwa

KATHMANDU: Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) provided food, clothing, and other daily necessities on Monday to 120 households affected by devastating flooding in wards 1 and 2 of Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Rasuwa.

The residents were directly affected when the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers flooded on 26 August. A team led by TTDC President Raju Man Dangol spent two days travelling to the area to distribute the supplies in coordination with the local government.

President Dangol stated that the relief was distributed with the aim of helping the affected families meet their immediate needs.

The food items provided by the council included 125 sacks of rice, 150 kilogrammes (kg) of lentils, 100 litres of oil, 175 kg of salt, 50 kg of soya beans, and 75 kg of beaten rice, along with noodles, biscuits, and juice.

Clothing and bedding items distributed comprised 370 pieces of ready-made garments (T-shirts, trousers, jackets, and sarees), 200 pairs of shoes, 200 pairs of slippers, 52 quilts, 16 mattresses, 20 blankets, and 85 pillows, according to TTDC General Secretary Pashupati Kandel.

Kitchen utensils included 100 plates, 100 glasses, pressure cookers, pans, and spoons, while health and hygiene supplies included oral rehydration salts, medicines, bandages, sanitary pads, and toilet paper, General Secretary Kandel stated.

TTDC, a leading organisation in the tourism sector, stated that it has always provided assistance during natural disasters as part of its social responsibility, seeking to support the victims in Rasuwa during this difficult time.

The council delegation that travelled to Rasuwa for the distribution included President Dangol, First Vice-President Rajiv Pandey, Second Vice-President Dawang (Dawa) Tamang, General Secretary Kandel, Secretary Dilip Kandel, Treasurer Kinchu Lamu Bhutia (Shrestha), and Member Bishwa Man Pradhan.
